Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s ‘Terra Nova’ expedition arrived at Cape Evan’s in early January 1911. The hut was erected there between the 4th and 17th of January. The painting depicts how the snow and ice drifts can quickly obliterate the building. The Antarctica Heritage Trust finally completed a five-year restoration of the hut in 2012.
